Classic Gaming Setups

Well it's New Years Eve and as we moved house earlier in the year my old Commodore 64 was out so weve set it up out of boredom.

Can't believe it still all works, although I think it outputs in NTSC as its all black and white an I've lost the RF modulator

We had a quick (15 mins to load) game on Outrun and now on rainbow Island!

Anyone else got something classic, pre Mega Drive!

Pretty sure my Amiga 500 is still at my old man's house, but I don't ever intend to fire it up. Some things are best left in the past. Including 'classic' games. They're all s**t.

Not really. That's like saying everything produced in 2011/12 will always be much better. It isn't, and probably never will be.

I haven't got the C64 anymore (shame ) - but I do have the A500 still knocking about. Firing up old kit is always good for a blast of nostalgia!

I've probably posted these pics up somewhere before but what the heck... Here's part of my videogame entertainment collection after I shortly moved into my new place. I still have some bits and pieces to pick up from my parent's place and my sister's pad, too.

I have to make sure I have an old-skool CRT television handy for playing the light gun games and some of the older consoles. I also have a few home computers ranging from Atari ST's to Dragons to Commodores to Spectrums to Amstrads... I *think* they all still work.

I bought a megadrive last year thinking sonic would be epic as ever and it wasn't

Must admit whenever I've gone back to classic titles I've just come away with the same feeling as Roy. There are a few exceptions but as a rule your 2012 experience of playing the game won't tie up with your rose tinted memory from your childhood.

Mariokart is an exception.

But yeah, most of them are not that great. Ghosts and Goblins was a let down as was Bubble Bobble, both of these consumed my life in the local arcade.

lol, Dreamcast within all that jazz.. most awesome failure that was.. a lot of people don't know it was watercooled as well . Still got a 3DO kicking about at my parents house I think, most of the others have been scrapped

Dreamcast actually wasn't as bas a flop as everyone thought. Typical Sega with their poor timing and 3rd party supports woes killed it.

Only 4 levels, but feck, I played that thing to death. Level 4 was a b**ch - even when I had the quicker reactions as a kid.

Liquid cooling thing is a myth, just has heat pipes. Which in a way are sort of liquid cooling and were new then. The Dreamcast is still however awesome. I can still play mine now.

Dreamcast - pure awesome. My favourite console of the lot and it still gets used regularly, too. My original Dreamcast broke some time ago and the one I have now is a bit of a 'special' one. Ferrari 355 Challenge, Soul Calibur, Chu-Chu Rocket, Ikaruga, Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge...
