Clay mitts

While I had a free day and the weather was half decent I set about giving the Clio the once over with the clay mitt.

I originally bought this fine grade one from CYC https://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/clay-mitt-blue-fine-grade which worked okay but I felt I needed something a bit more aggressive so bought the one labelled ’agressive’ https://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/clay-mitt-purple-aggressive-grade. Only got round to using it today and I feel it’s anything but aggressive.

Anyone else experienced the same or got a better product?

Clay bar and lube
I do still have the old fashioned way, it just takes so long!! 😂 The mitt is super quick for large areas which is 👍🏼
I might have to resort back to it for heavy contamination though!!

I use a Farcella G3 Pro mitt. Never had an isuue with marring. Use it on the paintwork when it's wet after washing and the car feels smooth as glass when it's done.

Those synthetic clay systems seem to work differently to regular clay. I found that they benefit from a bit of extra speed when doing the back and forth motions. It seems like they dont pick up contamination like regular clay, but seem to knock it loose. I also found that a rinse of the panel helped wash away the bits it had loosened and made the panel a lot smoother than before the rinse.
Oh and lots of lubrication, otherwise they will marr like crazy

I’ve always been a lover of clay mitts/cloths because I’m fat and lazy.

But imho, clay bars are better and cause way less damage.
