Cleaned throttle body - idle rate is higher?!

Hi guys,

Just wondered if someone can shed some light on this. I wasnt getting huge amount of power when I put my foot down so read up on here and decided to clean the throttle body. Took it off this morning and it was filthy!! So cleaned it all up fitted it back on and the idle seems to be a lot higher :s beforehand the car used to purr!! Now seems a tad louder and im not too keen aha.

By the way my car is a non-sport 02 Clio Mk2 cheers

If its still opening the same amount as before, and has less dirt in the way it will flow more air past it at idle.

Is it an electronic body or an idle control valve model, Im afraid i know little about the non sports. The sports relearn their idle points over time, would expect yours to as well, try giving it a few days and see if it comes back down.

Ahs never thought about that mate like I said it was a disgrace so makes sense. Thanks for the quick reply to be quite honest im not too sure either I think it is an electronic body one pal.
