Cleaning carpets, back seats and belts

  Jap Box
Hi,

Has anyone got anything they would recommend to clean out the above?

The back carpets are the worst, whoever had the car before me spilt coke I assume which has in time stuck to the floor making it pretty much rock solid and very very dirty.

Got the coke marks and sludge off the rear cup holder but its still on the carpet.

Also the back middle seatbelt has had something spilt on it too along with the back seats, pretty dirty looking really, had a little go with the wet wipes I had around and they broke it up slightly but didn't remove anyhing.

Would like cillit bang spray or something similar work well, maybe some sort of carpet foam that u leave to settle to break up the stains.

Thanks for anyone that can help :)

Autoglym interior shampoo is ideal! Costs abwt a 5a and is the best thing ive used for carpets
Alcantara cleaner is ideal for the seats

Thanks, gunk is pretty think though on the carpets, do you think it will be able to do much for it?

Ill try the alacantra cleaner for the seats :) mainly dirt thats been left on there thats managed o stain it, no idea how the previous owner could have had people in the back, it's a mess!

You won't need alacantra cleaner, you can just use AG interior shampoo as your seats won't be leather/alacantra like the sport seats :)

Sounds good to me :) ill have a bash with some cans of interior shampoo from £land tomorrow as some might just be in the staff damages section for me :) if this fails ill pop to halfords and get some AG

For what good the £ shop stuff with do, you'd be better off not wasting your money and possibly ruining your seats/carpet for good.

Use the autoglym stuff, it's like a fiver, seriously.

Good point, got some bumper shine from there and its been ok :) work there so it wouldn't be costing me anything if its in the damages :rasp:

Will pick up some AG also anyway unless I find some in the garage beforehand :)

Also try posting this in this detailing section and you'll get more of a responce next time.

True. Can be moved if you wish Kerry.

For the seat belts, Meguirars All Purpose Cleaner works well as it is a degreaser - and just to make you go "EW" most of the marks on the seat belts will tend to be from greasey, grubby fingers!

Seats wise, any all purpose cleaner is fine. However, always test a small out of sight area first to ensure the items are colour fast and the cleaner won't affect it.

A quick tip - Tesco's Daisy is a very good replacement if you can't get to Halfords/order from the detailing websites.

Hope this helps.

Tried with my best efforts to clean rear seats but they were too much of a mess :( swapped bottom half with ones from the other PH1, only problem being the top half is red and borrom half of seats is blue :rasp: haven't had a chance to take the top of the bench out of the other car yet.
