we have a dci 65 which the injectors are playing up. I was thinking about taking them apart and seeing if I can clean them up. is it really something that needs specialist care? has anyone else had a go?

Looking to take them apart and clean the needles and tips up. I know what to expect with regards to the insides as I've seen some vids on the delphi injectors. I'm more curious to know if others have gave it a go and if there's a lot more involved plus why it's a specialist job.

If you are going to have a go yourself be aware its likely to just go wrong. Not anything against your work but they are very sensitive. I've spent the past year chasing issues with dci injectors and have had nothing but grief. I would just go on ebay and search for either 'diesel doctor London' or even better 'Edinburgh diesel' and get recon units. Only 100 quid each and work like new. Just make sure you choose the ones with the correct code.
And in regards to coding which im sure you have read about, the car will work fine without it but i would recommend doing it once you have sorted all the other issues.
If you need any help let me know. I've read everything there is to read about these injection systems and im sick to death of fixing them :(

Cheers for the advice. I'm going to run the test on the fuel return lines and see how many injectors are not satisfactory. It might only be one that's bad. Buy first going to drop some fuel from the filter drain and check for metal particles.

It will make itself very obvious if one is worse than the others. Do you have trouble starting and do you get an injection fault warning if you put your foot down too much?

Yes trouble starting. We have broken down a few times and have had to use easy start to get it going again. The engine management light is on all the time and we have a df137 fault code (excessive fuel rail pressure) when plugged into an obd reader. Which would make sense if one of the injectors is blocking up.

I had the exact same. I started mine on easy start every day for at least 6 months because i couldn't afford a new injector. I bet i can open a Clio bonnet faster than anybody else can one handed in the dark after all that time. :)

I have the opposite, ive got low fuel rail pressure which i think is being caused by a blocked filter after i ran the car almost to empty by mistake a while ago. i changed a pressure regulator today and to be honest its not too bad if you have some mechanical sympathy. i would recommend you have a look into it because its likely to be the regulator or pressure sensor causing your issue. i think if you look in the haynes manual it gives you a resistance value for the regulator. Its worth sticking a meter across the terminals and seeing what you get.

Did changing the regulator fix it for you?
Long and short of it ... No. In fact it seems to have made things worse if anything. Seems that my issue is more serious than i thought.

Anybody got any idea why a mk3 dci would be shaking itself to death. Don't think its engine mounts. Someone on here must know more about these injection systems.
Plz help

I just put fuel cleaner in once a month and I make sure I give the car some good revs every so often, to keep everything as clean as possible in the fuel system.

I do the same. Fuel cleaner as often as i remember. Oh and don;t worry, i give it some revs alright. I can make my crappy little diesel Clio monster some serious motors. Swear its been mapped or something. Well, i could do that when it was running. Sad times...
