Cleaning painted alloys?

  Nippy white cup
I want to see if I can get shut of the baked on brake dust but I'm not sure what to use. The wheels are painted so I'm not sure about the usual wonder wheels as it would c**k the paint on the body work up so I would imagine also the wheels

Any ideas?

Cheers

difficult as depends how well the wheels were painted. i would personally try a more conventional cleaner like auto glym / megs hot wheels or maybe even something like a megs claybar to remove the bulk of it before resorting to powerful cleaners and degreasers.

if only used a limited number of times even wonder wheels and the like should be ok. just make sure once you've got them nicely cleaned you give them plenty of wax/protection. the wheels will also need to be bodyshop or 2k painted, as 1k lacquer can react and run quite badly with powerful cleaners.

mark.

just had my alloys painted, and the guy at the body shop says ues autoglym ect..and never ues washing up liquid ,as it contains acid and knacks the paint.
