Clicking, creaking and weird noises....

What are the noises that come from the car when you have given it a good ragging? When you stop and get out it always seem to click and creak?

Is it just the metals contracting?

yeah. prolly the radiator too. just like a tapping sound isnt it. try driving down a big motorway at 115mph for about 30 mins and then park it, youll find your car makes a wind noise, thats because its desperately trying to cool its poor arse down.

jjoe90; i had heard it on my car an guessed it was cooling but i seriously didnt think of that in my house. ive been struggling to get to sleep for the last 23 years thinkin it was the monsters in the wardrobe!

What happens to metal when it gets hot, it expands. When it gets cold it contracts.

Its why (and this still gets me sometimes) tellys make a big loud creak after you switched them off in the middle of the night! lol.
