clifford alarm

hiya guys ive got a concept 600 on my clio. i bought the car last week and everytime i turn on the alarm it doesnt do that bleep noise like all cliffords do, it just flashes the indicators. it has been like this since i got the car, could it be that the previous owner had the siren switched off??

Does the alarm "sound off" if triggered ? if so it's proberbly just the arm and disarm tones have been switched off.
