clifford alarms...

  6/468 17poo

Hello ive got a mark 1 phase 3 clio and wanna get a clifford concept 300 but my cars already got a standard renault immobiliser does any one no if this has to be taken out and will this cost more to get rid of, any views or comments

Does anyone own one of these alarms and how much do u rate them?

had a clifford on my last car, and am having another on the clio.

the clio immobiliser works off the key the alarm is off the key fob, you have both.

make sore you get the alarm done at a clifford dealer, only 1 in the north west is SQ plus. loads of places fit them but are not supported by clifford. be careful, its an alarm that if it goes wrong your NOT moving your car!!!!

I have a Concept 300, and a Mk1 Phase3.

The standard immobilisor cant be taken off - so to start car you open with clifford, then disarm the factory one.

Best alarm.. heh.

yeah i will definitly check that its a proper clifford fitter doing it ill try and get it close to home as possible!

Daz, so what ur saying is this:

You dissarm the clifford with the carbon key ring thing then, u have to hit the central locking button on the renault key then start the car or can u just put the key straight into the ignition and go? yes or no?

Plus as uv got a similar car to me do u find that if u dont start the car within about 2mins it wont start as the immobiliser kicks in and u have to lock the car with the key and start again?

sorry if its got really confusing!

You have to disarm both..

When you have it fitted, theyll explain it all - takes a bit of getting used to, but its pretty hard to get started even with the keys, if you dont know whats happening.. which is cool, heh. things can loose sync with each other.

clifford immob kicks in after a set time all you do is put your key in the ignition turn it so the electrics should come on then press the lock button on your clifford fob then u can start your car.

i think the best thing for me to do is just to get the whole alarm fitted then i can understand physically how it works i just want a cat1 and the boy at work has just put this on his nova sr and seems a really good alarm its just his car hasnt got any immobilisers or nuttin!cheers paul

getting an upgrade on mine, which should link in with all and in effect make my key control redundant, and purely work off an alarm fob, and it £299 fitted plus extra £80 for total closure option for my windows, made by laserline believe it or not, come a long way since selling pants stuff in halfords, and lets face it, if its a cat1, its a cat1!!!!

used to have a clifford in another car, messed up a couple of times, but i think a lot of people go for those only because of the name first?????? good alarms, but like i say, a cat1 is a cat1!

yeah thats whats happened to me i just thought of clifford because of the name, yeah i no wot ya mean about the stuff in halfords cos i work there ill have a look on their website if they got one i just want a reliable cat1 and with clifford their name goes with the price but still seem quality!

I had a Clifford. Concept 50 Cat1 for 5 years. Worked great apart from the volumetric sensors having a mind of their own after a couple of years. The lifetime warranty meant I could get it checked for free all the time but checks showed no problems. I assumed the seat belt deciding to retract an hour after I got out was the cause but who knows. The current concept 300 doesnt have the same sensors as standard.

The new lazerline upgrades look very good but the only lazerline I ever had didnt stop the car being stolen, stripped and torched so not sure Ill go with them. I might use Williams Mechs car as a Guinae pig before I decide on a system for my 172. Ill probably end up with a concept 300 with glass sensors and total closure though. Glass impact sensors are definately worthwhile but bump the price up.
