Climate Control 172 - Randomness!

  BMW F21 125d
Ok so my climate control seems to have some issue which i will try and describe.

Cold Air is Fine. Anything from mini to 21 is fine. However, I only get any real heat out of it when its on maxi. As soon as i drop it to 26 it feels like it drops about 10 degrees! However, if i have the window slightly open, then i have it on 26 or 25/24/23/22 etc i get heat. So i am thinking that a temperature sensor in the car is broke ?? Where are these sensors ? Has anyone else had such issue?

Ive read through recent posts, and can see one's of No Heat and no cold, but mines a bit different!

All Help appreciated!

im not totally sure on this one but does the climate control take the outside air temp from the sensor under the passengers wing mirror (the one that gives you outside air temp on the clock/radio screen) so if it was playing up it would think the outside air temp was higher than it actually is so wouldnt be taking as much air from the heater matrix?!

just a possibility im not sure how it all works, whats your temp displaying on the clock/radio screen?

Think it only uses it to decide whether to use the A/C when you set it to minimum temp, as it won't turn it on under 7c iirc.

Outside temperature is fine, always correct (well there abouts!) So maybe it is the temp sensor in the internal light housing. Is that the thing that the fan can get noisy on ? Sure I've seen some posts about that somewhere!
