Climate Control Dead?!

  GW RS200
Hi! This evening my climate control seems to have half died (FF 172 53 reg) - while the unit itself displays all the usual stuff, the fans never actually whirr and come to life no matter what buttons I prod and jab. Nightmare! Anyone experienced this before? I'm seriously hoping this might just be a fuse!

Cheers,

Steve

53 reg mate - from the look on the search it's the heater resistor pack. I'll gladly cough up the 85 quid for the part if someone on here would be so kind as to provide a definitive description of how to change the little bugger!

First check the little sampling fan up by your interior light; see if it’s turning.
If not you can take it out and clean it as a starting point.

If it’s broken, replace it, they don’t cost a fortune and will stop the sytem from working.

If that OK and the blower fan still isn’t working, check the fuses both at the end of the dash and in the E box under the bonnet.

If they are all intact then you need to suspect the resister pack.

It’s in the heater plenum, under the cover at the bottom of the windscreen looking from the front of the car with the bonnet open, its on the left side.

I think there is a guide somewhere, but if not I will be happy to tell you how to do it.;)

How spooky. My 53 plate 172 has just done the same thing. The LCD screen still says everything is running and working as normal. The lights are on, but nobody is at home.

Randomly, there's something which sounds like a whining noise when I lift the bonnet with the engine switched off, and the climate control 'on'

Thankfully, the garage tell me the climate control is covered by the warranty.

Resistor pack for the fan i'd go for.

Congratulations! Well the garage have told me it is the 'power pack' which will cost me £90, but isn't covered by the warranty.... Grr.
