Right, hopefully you guys can help me.

Recently my car has started stalling and this is no fault of mine, i will turn the ignition on so it started, not even touch clutch or gears and it will just stall.

I'm not so worried about it yet as it rarely happens, 1-2 a month at most but still i find it quite worrying and can't really explain why, it did it twice in one day before its quite choosy when it wants to do it. Can get quite embaressing as well, if im at the front of a que at traffic lights. I just want to say again, that it stalls when its not in gear with no revs being put in so its nothing to do with clutch control.

You can hear it when it starts to go, it sorta judders alittle bit, but you cant even tell sometimes its stalled, its silent everything just cuts out. Should i take it to garage get it sorted out?? I mean it hasn't happened in a month or so, so hopefully it was just something gone abit funny for while. I just don't want it to one day back and i can't start it at all?

Any suggestions about what this could be? and has this happened to other people, its a mk2 phase 2 and done about 37k on it

thank you

chris

Happened on mine and it turned out to be the lamda (sp) sensor, does it judder then just die or is your mpg lower?

judders then dies, but it sometimes just cuts out that i can't even tell its stalled? Is it an expensive bit to replace?

is the wiring loom at the back of the engine worn away? it was a fault on the early models. Top rear of the engine, there is a metal block. wiring loom is under it, and it often rubs away at the wires!

lol my old one ate 2 engine covers, one was stoping the fan moving too lol i gave up puting them on after that.

could also be the coil pack going, mine started randomly dying and then it got worse and worse untill it kept doing it. thats also a very very common fault
