clio 1.2 mtv radiator fan switch

hi all got a clio 1.2 8v w reg mtv edition here (not mine), the problem ive got is the fan isnt kicking in and sum 1 has wired the fan 2 the batt. So i looked 2 c if i could find the fan switch but cant is the fan controlled through the ecu via the coolant sensor in the cylinder head?
also any1 know the engine code for this car?
