Clio 1.5 dci died

Hi guys

My brothers girlfriend was driving home from work last night on the motorway and her 03 clio 1.5 dci just completely died on her so she had to pull on to the hard shoulder. He got the AA out to recover the car and take it home he has tried the car today and there is nothing but a bit of a clicking sound coming from under the bonnet!

any ideas what the problem could be?

Can any one give me a clue? Could it be timing belt?

It could be. It could be siezed up. What did the AA diagnose?

AA didn't diagnose anything pal think they just tow her home! Is there anything I can check to determine wether or not it's the timing belt?

Pull the cover off.

To add a bit more detail to Dans reply. To take the cover off you'll have to support the engine and remove the left (facing the car) engine mount. 3 x 16mm bolts and 1 x 16mm nut.

Does the dash show anything?
