Clio 16v 1992





Hello everyone im new so please be nice!!

Well im thinking about selling my clio!! *cry, sob, sob*

Its a k plate "92" 1.8 16 valve, it is in excelent condition, and has 760000miles on the clock

PiperX Induction Kit (air filter)Powerflow full stainless steel system to cat back 3"

It has Pimma racing 15" alloys *Williams replicas only in silver not gold as that would be rather gay*

Any way i would just like to know what starting price you guys think i should ask for!? Bearing in mind i saw a J plate with 90k on the clock, not very well looked after for about £4200. I was thinking of putting it in Auto trader for £3500

Oh i have another question!?? When i start up my car *from cold* there is a tapping noise from the engine bay that goes once warm, i just wondered if this was due to the oil. Whether it has the right viscosity or not. or if its a serious problem!?

£4200 for a J plate valver. they are having a laff pal.

Ud be better off putting urs in for around the 2k mark
 


b****cks then!! i will just keep it and hand it down to the girlfriend when she eventually passes her test!! Yeah 4200 is very steep i wasnt convinced at all but somebody would probably buy it though!

ROFL!!! £4200 for a j plate?!?!?! A well known song by Ozzy comes to mind, Im just a dreamer...

£1200 max for a j plate and its gotta be in absolutly prestine condition for that.
 


yeah i know this was about 1year maybe less, ago. I know cars depreciate in value!! *Not stupid* Anyway im not on about the J plate im on about mine!! Does anyone no a solution to my tapping problem!? Would thse tappets be worn or on there way out!?

Valvers are noisey, dont worry. However an oil and filter change wouldnt go a miss! Can never do it too often! And at £25, who cares!
 


Most hot hatches sound like a bag of sh*te when cold. As said above an oil change wouldnt go a miss.

760,000 Miles impressive, is it an original engine? :p
 


Sounds like your cam followers - as these get old/used they loose the ability to pressurise quickly which explains why the "tappety" noise goes once the engine is warmed up. Nothing serious but as someone said an oil change might help a bit.

As for the price issue, well its worth what someone would pay for it! Id certainly pay more than 1200 for an older example with milage like yours - mines a k and has done 130k and i would expect closer to 2k realistically....best of luck like....
 


change the oil in it, and dont use magnatec as it makes it sound like a diesel from cold.

(mine sounds the same, but didnt till i put that sh*t in it) so its an oil cahnge all the way then !!!
 


its worth what someone will pay for it, cars like this tend to fluctuate in value, and if its a Older GOOD example its better than a newer crap example init.



I use Valvoline stuff now, still sounds like a tractor on cold mornings but nowhere near as bad as it did with castrol crap. and its cheap, around a tenner for 5 litres i think.
 


Id reckon that if it was totally, totally mint and original you could get away with asking just under £3k for it.

But to be competitive in the Cliosport "for sale" section, it would have to be around the £2k mark.

I recently sold my pristine 16V (leather, tuned etc) for £2700. Id suggest you kept the car if its well loved and you dont really need the £2k. You wont get much more VFM.

Well i made my mind up and im going to keep her, i love my car so i think i will pass it on to the bird.

But i would say it was mint!! not totally mint , but it is nearly 12 years old, how do i up-load pics!! do you up-load from the web or my PC!? I will try to get one up!?
 


i got a stickin tappet from cold goes when warm or revd got some stuff to free stickin tappets seems to have worked is bout 6quid worth a try?
 


mines k reg and well moddified and ive been offered over 3 k with 76 k on the clock cars are only worth what the new owner wants to pay yes ??
