Clio 172 door lock

Door shuts and locks on key fob, opens from inside OK. Door latch doesn't work when activated from outside. ie lift door handle nothing happens.

Key fob lock sounds crisp on locking but a bit muffled when opening so Im thinking the mechanism is a bit tired.

Is this a take door apart job or WD40?

solenoid is faulty new one required i expect it comes with the lock

Is the solenoid inside the door around the lock? I hear sound in boot area when activate the lock with key fob but not from the door

Re: Clio 172 door lock - FIXED WITH A GOOD CLEAN

Removed door card, undid 3 screws and the door handle connector. Rotated lock to remove from door . Removed white cover from 'motor' (th bit thats does the clunk clunk!) Cleaned with washing up liquid and hot water. Exercised mechanism and sprayed up with WD40. Refitted now works like new!

So if your lock is getting on and a bit stiff - CLEAN IT!
