Clio 172 indicating flashing more than 120 times a minute MOT failure for repeat minor defect

Just failed an MOT on a couple of majors but also a minor which I've lived with for a year. Just thought I'd fit a new relay and just checked the forum for the location when the word control board came up as my stomach dropped...

So I now know that the relay is part of the UCH board but if I can fix earths and bulbs the car would be saved from the scrapyard. But couple of other things first...

Can a repeat minor be a failure? UKGOV indicates that minors should be dealt with before the next test?

Can I get and fit a new indicator relay to the UCH board - the forum tells me that the boards need coding or replaced with keys, ignition rings etc which is not practical as car is in the street.

Will be going through and adding earths just in case I can slow it down a bit. Car has been parked up for 2 months whilst COVID tried to sort me out so maybe exercising the relay might help.

Advice always welcome!

Have you checked the bulbs and the light clusters for corrosion? Check all the bulbs not just the indicators

Does it happen when you press the brakes?

Not yet no - I can manage about an hour of work so just thought Id get some bits as relays are cheap😂 - no difference when I load the battery just runs fast. I dont think the fire in the back has helped mind... When you say light cluster where do you mean?

I mean if there was a fire in the back then that might be your issue 😂

All fixed - many thanks - started at from with the bulb, holder, connector, fuse. All new wiring and two earth leads at the back so that was OK!

yes - a gas canister somehow failed and I think the ignition source was the gas torch trigger that got pushed in when I loaded up with tools and the when I walked away clicked a spark and boom. Door window open so roof is crispy but intact - I got the fire out in about 3 mins but it was a do I run before the tank goes? Got the heart going I can tell you.
