Hi, is it normal that in winter when the temp. is cca from -1 to -8, you can slightly hear the hydraulic lifters? Oil is motul 5w40.
In summer there is absolutely no sound of them.
My engine is quite 'tappy' in the cold i'm up at 5 most mornings and its all i can hear when i start the engine. I've just bought the car and i've heard the hydraulic lifters are affected by the dephaser pulley. Might be worth looking into having this changed as apparently it can clear up loud tappets, i know i will be getting the belt changed in the near future. Hope this helps.
check plugs are nice and tight too. Dephaser normally starts making tickerty doom noises once warm. It won't be lifters though. Generally they all sound a bit dogish from cold
