Clio 172 s1 erratic tickover - help!

Hi,

I have owned a 172 series 1 since last november, it is stil under warranty with the dealer and I have returned it a number of times to identify a problem but they cannot find a problem. The problem being that the tickover is often erratic, between 500rpm and 1000rpm. I generally only cover short distances and have been advised that this could be something to do with oxygen sensors gettin carboned up and/or using a fuel supplement might alleviate this. Can anyone help, advise at all?

The car has only covered 29,000 miles, is four years old and only ever run on optimax. The only modification being a magnex stainless steel system.

Thanks

Mines suffers from this sometimes matey - Because occassionally when I get into work mode and have no life for a month I end up driving 1/2 miles a day through central London. You need to get on the open road - Go away for a weekend and give it a good run, Use redex as Fred says as that helps!

You should check whether it has had an ecu upgrade too - Mine has been done and is alot better but it does tick over at about 6/700 rpm

No mods apart from stainless exhaust.

Thanks for the advice, Ill get some redex and give it a good thrashing at the weekend!!! Is as good as excuse as any to get on some B roads!

Dont think the ECU has been upgraded (?) but Ill look into it now.

Thanks!

Well once the car is warmed up you could see if the limiter is still at 6800 rather than 7500 or similar.

It gets me out of central London most weekends lol
