Clio 172 stats please

Hi I am new to the forum. And It looks really good.

I currently have a BMW e36 323I and am looking for something smaller as I live in london and also so I can put my dog at the back so we can cruise together!!

I am looking to get a clio phase 2 172 in the next week and wanted to know the stats and specification of a normal 172 clio sport.

I have searched everywhere but cant find stuff like weight of the car and engine codes and gearbox codes and so on....

Also If I find one with say 100,000 miles with full service history will it be still ok to drive, I mean its french!!

Sorry for all the questions but I am very excited.

F4R 736 engine code there another but cannot remeber

JC5 129 (or maybe 130) gearbox code from memory
Weight was argued for ages they seem to all be over there book weight Mk2 phase 2 172 normal one say 1150kg

100k should be no problem bits wear but thats doesn't mena anyhting my car had worn dampers at 50k I've just driven a 1.2 with 116k on the clock completly stock and its great.

How come you want such specific info for the car?

Hi thanks for the quick replys guys.:)

I just wanted to know more about the 172 and as for the engine codes wanted to know so that when other members mention them I would know what they where on about.

0-60 in 7.1 (6.8 for the cup right).

Are the brakes good on the normal 172?

From what Ive read so far the 172 has many niggles, but altogether the engine is pretty solid and even if thrased at high revs all the time it is still strong?? right?? (obviously if only been serviced properly)

How is the gearbox?? Is it weak??

0-60 eyp about right you can stanrt big moans on here aksing what time they will do as you as with all things get good and bad ones engne wise.

Brakes are superb they stop from 60 as fast as a 911 GT3. However they can need bleeding as your looking at cars over a few years old so the fluid deteriorates over time and often isn't changed.

172 has a few niggles yep if you become a member there a common problem guide in the members area which gives you them all etc also service guides etc.

Yep the engine is quite bullet proof will take a load of abuse. Often the quickest have a fair few miles on them.

Gearbox isn't that superb and there been a load of broken ones but thats mainly complete and utter abuse rarther than failure of the box. The clutch can wear depend how its driven its not amazing to start with but no heal and toe etc from high rpm and the clutch will wear fast. I've known them be changed at 30k and also them to be fine with drivers who drive them hard at 100k
