Clio 172 To Lotus Elise

  Suzuki SV1000S

You have helped alot, Cheers guys!

Just whether I want to spend around £6000 and have that car minus mine

Or keep mine as it is a laugh and perhaps get the Turbo conversion as little christmas present to myself..

Or just sell all together and get a bike + Flat (but that is way too sensible for me)

Lotus developed the VX and then used the information to develop the Elise S2.

Not quite true

All VX are built in the Lotus Factory and there is a rumour that for every VX that breaks down GM(Vauxhall) fine Lotus. Therefore Lotus are spending more time building the VX to a higher standard than they are an Elise.

That is total rubbish

cheers

Simon.

George, its simple, get out and drive something else..it will change your perceptions of the Clio. Its a great car for a FWD hatch..but it isnt a great car compared to an Elise or VX220.

True, Loved Driving the TVR but am worried about reliability. Clio is like a Go-kart and I can use it everday without worrying about some sh*tty driving banging door into it or whatever, Living in Westminster is a b**ch for that sh*t!

Didnt realise my post was that controversial. Simon P didnt want to wind you up. For me, for the same amount of money I want to spend, I can get a younger VX than I can an Elise.

The ABS would be a pain on the track, but with Winter looming I would rather have just in case(and an airbag to hit my head on is just a bonus). With regard to the servicing I agree - Vauxhall are a bunch of Monkeys. Fair play to you mate doing most of the servicing yourself. The K-Series engine does lend itself to that.

I think getting to the point - there cannot be a better experience than going for a blast on a sunny day with the roof off and just having you and the car.

George go for the VX/Elise!!!!!!

Hey Ad172 - no problem:D I just dont like it when someone wants an honest/owner opinion and people get things wrong. You are correct about getting a younger better VX than Elise but then you need to look at depreciation and I hate to say it the badge.

The ABS is dangerous and I for one would be disabling it. There is a known fault with it check the VX boards. ABS pah! driver trainer with Andy Walsh and you dont need to rely on it;)

We both agree that come the B roads this type of car is fantastic!

cheers

Simon.

No I am not.....honestly...well maybe a little:oops:. However if you read one of my posts up above you will see that I did think about buying a VXR220 with ohlins but just couldnt justify the extra expense. If I was a virgin to these cars that is where my cash would go though.

cheers

Simon.
