clio 172 vs astra GSI

one of my mates has one and standard it still beat me in my 182. At the end of each gear he just pulls. Very capable car.

Personally, I'm not a Vauxhall fan (Owned a rotten stinker of a Corsa GSi and a lovely VX220T) but I detest all Astras, prior to the Mk5. The only problems IMO with the latest iteration top-end Astras are the shockingly designed interior, precipitous depreciation and the woeful Vx network. However, one of the nicest rumps of any current gen hatch...

...i would have the gsi over the cup anyday. They have a nice interior, tuning is cheap and they look awesome imo.

Then why did you spend (what appears to be) a vast sum of money, modifying your Cup? :S

FYI: The engine block of the Z20LET in a Mk4 GSI is made of IRON. The anvil between the front wheels makes itself known as soon as you enter a corner at speed...

to be fair (not on the owners more the cars ) Vauxhall have always been good at making wolf in sheeps clothing style motors - but they excel in making crappy flimsy parts - plastic fuel line clips etc coming loose - silly nonsense lol

I would swap my Z20LET for a Clio 17/182 anyday of the week, The astra is so boring! (although definately built better!)

lol @ this thread. All hot hatches are realy similar straight line speed, some mod better than others which is a big factor, this is usually down to whether they're N/A or forced induction as i'm sure everybody knows.

I lose no sleep over what could or couldn't beat my car.

LOL at who would win in a race! LOL at my mates GSi killed my Clio but it was remapped with upgraded turbo and exhaust and had 1000000000000000000000000000000bhp.

182 is quicker off the line but the GSI will almost rape it in the straights.
I've had a 172 and the MK4 GSi.
