Clio 182 Cup Calipers

Changed my discs and pads today due to a sticking front caliper. Turned out the piston on one of them was totally seized, and also the bleed nipple was almost rusted away. Bought 2 new Pagid calipers from Autodoc and proceeded to swap them over only to find the mounting holes / brackets to the carrier are wayy too short!

I have attached a photo of my caliper - do they look standard? All of the parts I am finding online have a shorter mounting brackets. Is it the case that the Cup has different front calipers / carrier brackets?

All genuine callipers are the same afaik.

The 182 cups have just different hub bolt spacing for the shockers.

You probably bought the wrong calipers, parts listed in autodoc ar not always compatible, you have to double check.
But tbh, I would rebuild the old calipers with new pistons and seals plus bleed nipples. The seized nipple you have there might be removed with some serious heat on it. Not impossible

The one in your post is correct. Here’s a pic of some spares I have to compare numbers.

Genuine part number and OEM numbers are as follows:

RH Front Caliper - P/N (7701205833) - OEM Mfr. TRW-Lucas P/N (BHW242)
LH Front Caliper - P/N (7701205832) - OEM Mfr. TRW-Lucas P/N (BHW241

I’ve restored a fair few of these now, and kits from Bigg Red won’t cost the earth. You’ll get them sorted for under a hundred quid including kits and paint.

Get some HEL stainless steel nipples because the standard types are too soft.

Drop me a pm if you get stuck and I’ll help you source the parts and with the process.

Thanks guys really helpful.

That rebuild kit looks really tempting, but need the car back on the road like now…

Will see if I can source some other calipers and then will rebuild the old ones for spare.

From looking at pictures online the new calipers I have would possibly fit a 182 of some kind but not mine !!

There are plenty of these being broke. Surely you can pick one up locally to keep you on the road?

Strange thing is caliper carriers are no longer available for some time now

Manged to find a set of genuine refurbs for £100. Will rebuild the old ones to learn. Anyone know the best way to get out the stuck piston?

Air compressor if it's off the car already, but the pressure generated from brake hydraulics is far greater.
