Clio 182 CV Joint/Reluctor ring?

Evening guys.

My reluctor ring has gone on my 182(cup packed). Causing my abs light to come on and off frequently.
I understand there is a different variety of shafts for the 172/182s. But i have a brand new CV joint in front of me and on it is a 14/15mm reluctor ring(44 teeth). Which is what i need.

Can anybody tell me if the ring can be heated slighty, tapped off the new cv joint and then onto the cv joint on the clio? Thus saving me a few quid rather than replacing the whole shaft.

Im pretty sure the CV joint i have has a different number of splines etc to the actual CV joint needed for a straight swap.

Help is appreciated
Josh:)

Ill see how it goes. Seems to be a much cheaper way than replacing the whole shaft.
And the ring is the correct mm in width rather than the 7mm ive seen people use on here!

Its from jandrcvjoints.co.uk.
I had to buy the whole cv joint with the ring still attatched to it. Brand new £30.

I spoke to him on the phone and he measured it all for me and said it will swap straight over if removed carefully from the joint.
Fingers crossed.

No that's the wrong size. That ring width is 7mm. With the 172/182s cup/cup packed the ring is 15mm wide. The abs sensor won't pick up a 7mm ring.
I did phone and ask him before I ordered the whole joint.

I just left J and R negative feedback on ebay for suppling rings that are basically the same are rear (7.5mm) but advertising them as for the front drive shafts, i dint find out until half way through the job when i compared the new to old, took them nearly two weeks to get them to me as well! When i complained they said they have sold loads of them without complaint, i explained the size difference but all i got back was called help line, i just wanted to sort it through the ebay channels Tbh not ring a premium rate help line that could cost more for the phone call than the rings!

I got around the problem of them being too thin by using the old ones off my rear disks and adding two side by side.

The first side was a bit of a nightmare but once i new what i doing the other side was easy, to get the rusty ring off used an angle grinder the split the old ring and it came off easy, i then cleaned the drive shaft up with my dremel and a file. The new rings tapped home easy.

Glad you got it sorted pal.

Hopefully the ring will tap off this cv joint easily. Its brand spanking so hopefully a few taps a squirt of wd40 it should slide off.
My old ring will just fall off the shaft as its completely fu*ked. All will be sorted saturday. :D
