clio 182 differential bearing size

  Clio 182
changing my diff this weekend but unsure what size the bearing are! anyone know where i can get them or what the measurements are for them!

  Clio 182
The main diff bearing is huge mate and about £60 from renault. I've got a couple knocking about if you want the numbers off them?
i can get the numbers (i think) but wanted to just be able to order them online? is this not possible? if you got them i may as well take it from yourself

I've never seen them online separately mate, only part of a kit. The ones I have are used items mate that need to be thrown out, not new. Having said that though, I'm still yet to see a pair of diff bearings that have failed.

You know you'll need to check the preload as well if you change the bearings don't you?

In fact, are you just replacing the diff or the mainshaft as well? There's potential that it could whine like a straight cut box if not mate. They're a matched pair you see.

  Clio 182
Yeah I've seen them before mate. That's for the early twin taper bearing gearboxes. You need to know which box variant you have before you can order it.
just replacing diff mate nothing else but want to put new seals and and bearings in so its done properly

Well just be prepared that it may howl then mate, as like I said they're a matched pair.
well iv got a 04 plate 182 ff so didnt think they made different gearboxs for 182s?
2 of the bearings in that kit are incorrect for your gearbox as you have a 130 box. Trust me, I know these boxes inside out.

So it will be worth asking if they have bearings for that then. This is a minefield lol

  Clio 182
Yeah worth an ask I suppose. You'll need a press to get one of the bearings out of the casing, and you'll have to weld the inner race to shrink it to get the other one out.
thats fine iv got a mechanic doing it all. do you know the part numbers for the bearings that are wrong in that kit or are they ones you dont have?

  Clio 182
just seen two different kits online. there specified as either an early kit or late kit? is this what im looking for? and just check a gearbox i had laying in the garage and it is a jc5130...

  Clio 182
You have a late box mate, so I'd say that's the kit you need. Send me a link if you want and I'll confirm 100%
I spoke to the company and they confirmed their the right ones mate. So that's sorted!

The preload shims are a different story! Spoke to some specialists today but they all say you can't just buy shims you have to
measure everything before getting some... so that will have to wait till I take it apart.

Even spoke to renault and they didn't know what I was on about lol...

  Clio 182
Yeah it's a lot of money mate. There is a hell of a lot in the pack, but not £100's worth!

Thread bump on this, as was searching for issues with whining noise coming from the gearbox. I had my box built 2-3years ago with a Quaife plus all new ;synchros and bearings as per the PMS rebuild they sell. Its always had a fairly loud whine on deceleration with it. Is that a common occurrence with the Quaife?

If it has any kind of uprated gearbox or engine mounts then the whine will be amplified.

Yeah I’m running PMS solid drivers mount , power flex purple dog bone, and vibratechnic solid gearbox mount.
If your handy with the spanners then i would change back to the originals just to confirm all is normal.
I get a louder whine on deceleration just with the powerflex dogbone.

Thanks I might try that as well as switch to a stock shift from the PMS shifter as that must be contribute as well ?
