clio 182 got stuck red line

I was driving normally and i missed second gear due to my clutch, when i tired putting it back in second it wouldnt let me. then i realise the car got stuck at red line and wouldnt let me change gear or nothink.. after i switched the engine off the car went back to normal but it has never done this before...

does any1 know why my car did this....

i got a clio 182 05 plate about 41 miles on the clock
