Clio 182 price advice...

  An orange one
Hi all,

Been running a 1.2 dynamique since may as a daily while the vee sits tucked up, but have seen a 182 for sale just up the road from me, car is actually sitting at a small used car dealer but is for sale privately,

So phoned the guys dad up (lad has gone to Australia for 6 months) and he said his son was after £4000, it's a 54 plater in titanium silver with 47k on th clock and both cup packs as far as I know, 3 owners and a local car since new, I was kind of thinking more £3500 but he said be might be open to offers, I haven't had a chance to go over the service history so can't say weather belts have been done, but looks a good clean car inside and out,

Do you think the pricing is fair at £3500-£4000 depending on belts etc?

Cheers

Depends if it has cup packs and whether its due belts, if its tidy with good history, belts done etc its probably worth £3500 - £3700. It is silver which should make it a good few hundred quid cheaper IMO.

I'm surprised no-one has posted that it should be about £1,500 because prices are falling and it is a "buyer's market".

Too right! RB and Inferno do carry a premium (especially FF ones as most in these colours are poverty spec cups). Expect to pay out your arse for a liquid yellow one.

Black, Silver and Artic blue are very common so expect to pay a good few hundred quid less for these. I nearly bought a silver one, but so glad i didnt now :)

With the belts done a full service history they are around the 3200-3500 mark for silver, I was offered a black 04 182 with 54k miles absolutely nothing wrong with it for 2k, Needed the belts doing. Have a look on autotrader / pistonheads / ebay, In the last couple of months it does seem as though they have dropped a fair bit, I just bought a ph2 172 for £950, Perfect working order just needs a new lambda sensor and the headlight doesn't work but that should be a simple fix.

I paid £4800 for mine 6 month's ago. It was 33k on the clock, spotless condition inside and out, also with both cup packs and on Eibach Sportlines.

I love titanium silver think it's an awesome colour and seeing as my other half will drive it through the week it's an easy colour to keep clean,

So the general consensus is no more than £3500 if its got full service history and belts done?

I only paid £2400 for my 04 plate 182 with no service history, mot and tax. Was a risk but it paid off, cars been perfect since I've had it

I picked mine up with tax, MOT all belts done on 74k for £3,750. But it did have a full Renault service history, was spotless and one lady owner since new so seemed reasonable to me.

It wont have paid off when you come to sell it.

It's swings and roundabouts to be honest. At that price, what's the depreciation if it is sold in a year or two? It could be broken up and you lose a few hundred quid a year.
You'd lose that on a "perfect" one. What's bought now for £4K as perfect won't be worth £4K in 3 years time so it's all the same.
If I bought a car for a couple of thousand pounds with the intention of keeping it for a couple of years, surely resale is almost irrelevant.

Its only on 39k as well, so I'm gonna get the belts done as I don't know if they've been done yet and its not worth the risk really of not getting them done. I know with some cars the history is essential but I'm probably gonna keep this one for a while so I'll get the belts done and a full service and start the service history from the start of my ownership until I decide to upgrade :)

You know you can get the MOT history from 2005 onwards online? It provides info on where tested, mileage and advisories.
It would be a good start to building the history file.

Yeah checked it on the vosa website, no records on there of any failed or passed mots. Apart from the one I put on it when I bought the vehicle.

Only needed tyres to get through :)

Blimey, maybe stored away then. Sounds OK to be honest, just get the belts and a good service done and enjoy.
That's a lot of fun and daily useability for the money.

Yeah its looking that way, explains the low mileage as well. Gonna find my nearest specialist and get the belts done, jobs a good 'un :)

Sometimes you get lucky and get a dirt cheap car and it turns out to be perfect. 3 months into ownership now and not a single problem :)
