Clio 182 track

Centre section and cat are off.

The new gasket doesnt sit in the cat right, seems the gasket is too big, even mounted up on the manifold it wasnt right. I tested the gasket in a sports cat and its a much better fit.

Got the exhaust and sports cat on and all sealed, no more leaks! The new clamp that replaced the old olive clamp is so much better, much tighter fitting.
Plugged in diagnostics and both o2 sensors are stable and the engine isnt running as lean as it was. Took it for a drive and no more raspy noise just lots of grunt.

The clio has the odd scuff and scratch around the wheel arches and back bumper. After a wash and wax they stick out like a sore turd.
So i have some free time and decided to start working on the damaged areas.
The passenger side was in a sorry state...

Scratches running all the way along so sanded it back...

Sanded some more and applied body filler.
All primed and looking much better...

Thanks mate. Repairing the bodywork aint too bad, just needs alot of patience to get it smoothed out. The painting is a ball ache, especially with a spray can. Too much pressure and left with drip marks. Once im done though it should be looking alot better

Couldnt get a decent spray on the front bumper, so ive taken the bumper off and going to repaint the whole piece. Ditching the spray can too and getting something that i can control the spray better. Also found why my headlight washers arent working, leaking hose. May just get washer blanks and block the hoses.

Its been over a year since i touched my clio, finally got some free time last week so got the front bumper painted matte black. The original paint is black gold, but I think the matte looks alot better.

The battery didnt last through winter, and didnt respond to a recondition, so fitted a Yuasa 75ah 620cca.
Whilst i had the battery, air box and bumper off i gave the engine bay and front end a proper clean and it looks so much better for it.
I just have some paint to put on the rear quarter, replace the rear discs and pads, refit the starter motor heat shield and its ready to go for an MOT.
All being well I should finally get it onto Brands Hatch ?

Any feedback on the whiteline ARB? Curious to know how the car reacts :)
Hoping to get the Clio out next week, will post an update then.

I resprayed the rear quarter today, my first effort was a little thick on the primer. Sanded it back and tried to blend with the existing paint as best I could, better than my first attempt but still not great ?‍♂️
I’m liking the matte on the front bumper, so I might have a crack at the whole car; I think i’ll Save that for after summer.

I’ve had another project on the go, an 18 yr old boxster S, attached a pic of the rear bumper polished and waxed, for an 18 yr old paint job it’s come up decent.

Drove down to the MOT centre and first time I’ve driven it with the white line ARB, feels really tight and nimble.
They are having fun revving the nuts off it, the Scorpion sounds good. The last MOT it had failed because of exhaust leak, I pulled the whole thing out last year and replaced gaskets and resealed so hoping no advisories or fails this time.

MOT pass with no advisories!! Just went for a spin down some country lanes and one big difference I noticed is there is absolutely no roll when you throw it into a corner.
I’ve got the standard cup springs and dampers and it did roll quite a bit before fitting the arb.
Anybody have any tips on fitting the starter motor heat shield without it falling off?
Last time I fitted I found it sitting at the bottom of the manifold

I managed to get the starter motor heat shield back on tight. I wrapped the starter cables with electrical and heat resistant tape.
I had to loosen up the exhaust manifold to head bolts, a 3/8 joint socket was needed to get at some of the bolts.
That gave me just enough room to get the heat shield reseated.

Hi guys
Almost a year since my last post. The Clio went through its MOT last year with no advisories, so resealing the exhaust, new mounts and cat to manifold kit helped fix the leaks.
I’ve been using the Clio as my daily, but left it sitting over the whole of xmas. When I started it back up again I hit the throttle a bit to hard and the EML flashed. It was off and on for about 2 months.
OBD said it was a misfire on cylinder 3, so pulled the sparks and 3 & 4 heavily sooted. Swapped them out, oil change and it ran a bit better but still EML mostly on cold mornings.
So next went and swapped the HT leads and coil pack, his made a massive difference in engine note it felt more gutsy but instant EML.
Last but not least, pulled the injectors and 3 & 4 had seen better days

Ordered 4 new marrelis and swapped them all out. The car had been sitting a week but Just in case I disconnected the fuel pump and turned it over. Took some force to get the old injectors out of the manifold, and removing from the fuel rail is a bit fiddly. Got everything connected back up, let the fuel pump prime and checked for leaks. All good so turned it over and checked again, turned it over a second time and injector one was spraying fuel on the fuel rail end. Lucky i had enough rags under the injectors, disconnected the battery and injectors.

Pulled the rail out again, cleaned up the injector and gave it a bit of force to get a seal. Having fuel in the rail helps, i was able to check for a good seal by moving the fuel to injector 1 side and eventually no more leaks. Connected all back up and primed then turned over 2nd time. The engine sounds alot smoother and was idling about 1100rpm, before it would idle under 1000 and was a bit lumpy.

So all is well with the Clio again, just in time for its MOT
