Clio 197 36k service... WTF!!

the guy from the first dealer thought i still had my old 182... hence why he said it needed the aux belt... caused so much confusion!

so now i put him straight on owning a 197 all is sorted... confusion over.

on 1*2s it was always 3 years or 72k for the aux belt.

But 3 years is 36k! :S

Nope it's 5 years or 36k on 1*2s, clearly says in the manual.

What I meant was, based on an average mileage of 12k a year, 3 years would be 36k

I didn't have mine long enough or do enough mileage to have the belts changed.

Was neither, it was 5 years or 36k. The 197 runs the same aux setup as the megane I believe is fine for 72k or 5 years, the aux kit is only £40 or so for the belt and tensioner and its a half hour job max £270 is taking the piss big style. Unless they think its the same as a 1*2 where the kit is £140 plus the labour is sort of right(ish).
