I'm looking to buy a Renault Clio 3 RS, the 197hp version, though I see a lot of different prices from $5k to even $15k so I was wondering what should I look for when buying one? Common failures and issues, stuff like that
Suspension noise is a PITA -
Brakes servicing
Knackered seats
Keys & door entry buttons not working
A/C usually knackered
Steering wheel peeling
Blocked drainage for wiper motor
Poor engine mapping
Poor gear selection when cold
Bunny hopping when cold
& so on.
I've had two and really like them. They're a bit more expensive to maintain than a 1*2 but, overall, I still prefer them. A better blend of practicality and fun in my view at least.
As above, swivel hub bearings are one of the bigger things, along with gearbox syncros. Suspension parts aren't that expensive from the likes of RPD though, and most of it is easy enough to do yourself.
Make sure the suspension is fresh and they're still one of the most fun hot hatches out there.
