Mate of mine reckons he got 8bhp from a 197 (if a 197 is producing 197 bhp) just from a decat!! True or false?? Cue fred!!

its 197ps, which is about 194 anyway
So hes chatting s**t straight away, as it would need to be an 11bhp increase to get to 205.

197's very rarely make more than 180bhp standard anyway, to get one anywhere near 200 you'd need cams etc

Tell him to get it on a dyno dynamics RR - with just a decat, all it will have is a nice flat-spot
Last one I saw at RS Tuning made 169! lol
in reality they're more like 185bhp as standard, although i've heard of a few touching 190 recently which i suspect is the engines loosening up.
They do respond quite well to remapping, but a decat will actually usually cause worse running without a custom map
My R27 ran at 180bhp after 2000 miles at RS Tuning and after a map went upto 189 so 205 is good going just from a remap
