Mines paid for at the end of January next year, depending on my financial situation I'm hoping to upgrade to a 200. I have a few ideas but nothing groundbreaking lol.
Why? Essentially the same engine, brakes, interior. And you'd have the same suspension setup. Would just be an uglier version of yours! I could see the point if yours was standard, but can't see the need given how well your goes.

I guess I just fancy a change, and by then the warranty will have expired. I'd only consider changing if the right deal came along and I could easily afford it. I agree they're uglier, so much so that it's the main thing putting me off!

I personally wouldnt bother. Maybe wait for a New RS is a few years time? Only real change is a *slight* improvement in low down grunt, and the suspension, which you've already sorted.

+1. Similar to when I sold my 1st 172 for a 182. Waste of money.

I drove a 197 followed by a 200, there is a huge difference in the spread of torque and the 200 also felt significantly nippier with better peak power (both cars were less than 4k miles on). The 200 definitely feels a better sorted car.

Put it this way, I thought about a 197 when they came out and decided not to get one, 1st test drive in a 200 and I placed my order ;)

Fair comment, I guess everyone gets a bit bored from time to time and looks at what's on the market. I'm happy enough with mine for now tbh.

Not fancy a Meg 250? Or a soiled Focus RS?

Only other car I quite fancy atm is an R26.R. I'm not entirely sure why, I just think they're very cool and 'purposeful'. I'd like one in Racing Blue with black wheels.

The steburns car isn't standard though. Put it this way, at Oulton it had the legs on every 197/200 present.

I agree that the 200 is far uglier than the 197 from the front. I've just got back from test driving a 197 I think I'm gonna buy ;)

Shame the recaros are so flimsy considering they're so expensive!

I've also driven both, with having a 197 for 18 months and a mate who's got a 200 cup.... My 197 had 40k under its belt, and felt strong. The main difference i found was the quicker rack on the cup chassis, very noticable.

The one thing i dont miss about 197 is the kangarooing and flat spots, which the 200 seems to have ironed out, but the cars certainly arent night and day different.........

I like the R26.R, but can't help thinking that an R26 on coilovers (KW V3), with a remap would be the quicker car, with the added benefit of being able to leave the rear seats in as reqd. The R would be more special though.

Yeah I agree, but I'm slightly won over by the 'cooler' image of the .R

^^Driving home from a track day, the regular R26 would be the better car.
Indeed. The comparisons with the FRS were a bit silly, because you can use the FRS all day every day as you're only car. Not so the R26R. It's got less storage than an Elise in reality.
