clio 200 clutch :(

  clio 200
this morning on my way to work my clutch started slipping only for about quarter of a mile then the clutch pedal went solid, couldnt change gear etc. after a while all the pressure was gone from the clutch and the pedal was just hiiting the floor.

got AA'd to my local dealer, AA driver and guys i work with who know a thing or two about renaults reckon its the slave cylinder

i spoke to the garage about an hour ago and they said if its wear and tear then they wont replace it. i thought the actual clutch would be wear and tear but not the slave cylinder?? the car has only done about 6k and i dont drive like a granny riding the clutch etc. sp cant see it being wear and tear?

so is it fair if ive to pay for it? any help much appreciated thnx
