Clio 200 Euro 5

  Something Not French
Ordered a FF in Storm Grey w/ Black speedlines. The car has been ordered 3 weeks now, but Renault (Leicester) rang me last friday and told me car would now be delayed until end of November. They said Renault weren't painting any new cars in Storm Grey now until the new Euro 5 engine is put in (built from Nov 1st).

Obviously I'm not happy about a 16 week build time. Anyone had a similar experience? Has anyone heard any detail on the new Euro 5 engine? I'm hoping it'll drag the Road Tax down a group, otherwise its pointless surely?

They said I can have any colour I want, except grey pre november. I'm holding out for grey, and am trying to blag a courtesy car / free recaros for the hassle they've caused me!

Also,

I thought the 200's engine had always applied to the belgium, sorry, euro 5 restrictions?

The co2 is dropping by about 4 g/per km and there will be no difference to performance (on paper at least!)

There are some cars 'in build' for Mid/end of October in certain colours (not Storm obviously!) where you can change the spec within reason.

I know for sure there are Black Full Fats all with Cup Chassis and some with Recaros - these could have modifications to things like window tints/different wheels/cornering lights etc but not colour or chassis.

These have the current engine.

I have a data sheet at work showing the differences, will post it tomorrow

Not much helpful info on your Storm grey order I'm afraid! That will def be November.

Worth bothering then?!?

The dealer tried (Renault Leicester) and failed. The system wouldn't allow any change.

Didn't think that would work ^

Can email it if you want to see the figures.

Product manager for Clio has said NO change to performance, and road tax so no difference really.

Cheers for the figures, it seems you know more than Renault Retail UK!

Without wanting to seem over critical of Renault, this surely is a lot of money to be spending on a engine if it generally has very little change to the figures. Especially considering rumour has it that the Clio 4 will have a 1.6 Turbo?
