Tbh, i wouldnt mind a turbo, there wouldnt be any more lag and it would increase MPG. Seriously i do about £60 a week in fuel and i have done under 5k miles in 6 months of owning it.
all good points but you dont get a 7.5-8K rev limit :)

Turbo's can be great too, I for one would love an R26/225 in addition to the Clio's. Its just that I prefer NA engines

Only for emmissions though. The more strict the EU get the more turbo cars will be made.

RUK's 1.2 TCE engine is a prime example.
No doubt that plays a part. But there are also packaging and weight benefits.

Would be nice if they went down the Mugen Civic type deal, only not the price tag! That is a special car and deserves an 'R' on it, maybe even two!

Whatever enthusiasts think, rest assured that this will have been seen as a sales failure within the ranks of Renault, and IMO there won't be another one. The reason it succeeded was the same reason it failed.

I love them, and money no object I'd have one tomorrow as a second track car (after an actual track car). As my main road car, I know it would have got on my tits 3 minutes after I tried to do something serious in it. Most people in the hot hatch market buy it as their road car.

I love the concept.

But you have to be realistic, a FWD hot hatch with fixed buckets, no rear seats, harnesses, no stereo is a nonsense for everyday use. Crappy rear bench, reclining (light) buckets, how much slower would it of been, really? It would of been a vastly better car, sold more, with bugger all compromise. You can't talk about not having any compromises when you're starting point is a FWD hatchback FFS.

If you can live with those compromises, why would you pick one over an Elise?

+1

R26r owners usually have other cars, harnesses for everyday, no way;)

So is that a no to the 200R? All i would ask is, is there an market for the corsa 888 or what ever it is.

What do you mean dude?

You know that special Civic Type R that costs nigh on 30 grand? 240hp and lots of uprated stuff. It looks amazing and apparently performs amazingly, but at that price...

If there was a Clio equivalent only not at the same price tag, that would be nice. A nice hike in power and some special kit.

Looks awesome Chris, really like it.

I'd be surprised if they do bring out a 200 R (or any further specials of the Clio) because RenaultSport will be busy "mainstreaming" the brand in the next couple of years. They have already brought out the Twingo 133 and have a new line of warmed up "GT by Renaultsport" models in the pipeline.

If there is a special 200 in the works I can't imagine it'd have any more power than the standard car, but let's see, maybe they will bring somethine special out for us.

Must say I agree with the above comments about the .R and the Civic Mugen; why would you buy one of these over a Caterham R300 or Exige?
