well it comes up with an error message when trying to play the cd that is in, same cd been in for around 4 weeks, wont let me eject it or anything, "error" message comes up then it moves to next setting ie aux input, any ideas what to do? really dont want to have to go anywhere near dealers

Can you properly reboot it as such? Unplug it from the rear and plug it in again? I had the same problem with my 172 unit and it spat it out once it was reset.

push the eject button and let go as soon as you let go try and put another cd in until you feel the orignal in (dont force it in as it wont or shouldnt go) hopfully you will hear the cd in the HU pop out
