hahahaha yeah... knew id get ribbed for that... yeah was thinking of lowering 40mm... would that be enough? would i notice a big difference in the comfort of the ride. thnks

40mm you would notice but wouldnt really be low enough to be honest, you might find you want it lower as soon as you do it. it will probably be worse ride comfort if you get cheap springs. i would advise getting some second hand coilovers or something.

dont really think the spoiler suits a 5 door personally but its no to bad.

things you need to do: colour code, lower, paint drum brakes and thatll give you a pretty tidy start

thanks for the opinions guys... defo want to colour code.... and maybe lower. havent really thought about the brake drums though but will investigate lol

i was thinking about a window tint... yeah or nah?

colour code and lower is 100% must mate, i lowered my car on coilovers and it handles sooooo much better, feels far more planted on the road, corners better and tbh i prefer the ride to the standard floaty rolling ride. brake drums you can do for like £6 with a pot of hammerite from B and Q

each to their own, personally not a fan and i think it only suits white and black cars. is a little bit of a waste of money, talking £120 odd quid for a decent job, most DIY tinting jobs look crap

Spoiler .. er .. spoils it.

Wheels are too close a colour to the bodywork so it clashes. Contrast or matching is best to look at.

Also, why did you remove your number plate from the pictures ? Do you drive around with them in the boot so no one can write it down ?!

thanks guys... yeah i think overall concensus is get it colour coded so ill make that a priority.. any one know roughly how much that wil cost?

do it yourself mate, can get everything from halfrauds. about £50 for sandpaper, 2 primers, 2 paints and 2 laquers. may not need that exact amount but yeah....

yeah i must admit i never thought of that... although ive heard the halfords oaint isnt upto much or is that a lot of shite? how hard is it to sand down?

um it really depends on the colour, the ones they have in stock ( most common colours) are pretty good to be fair. its the sport colours which are a bit fancy and have multiple shades that there s**t at doing. you could always get everything you need from halfrauds but just get the paint cans elsewhere (spray shop or something).
sanding is easy, takes a little while and makes you ache like s**t depending howmuch your doing though lol. theres some guides on here for it

i do have sideskirts but as yet unpainted and unfitted.... will do that when i have the cash...

i dont know if i want it ridiculously slammed... would 40mm be enough u think?

another chap said he thinks id hardly notice it.. im a total noob when it comes to all this...

as for the diy painting... i might give it a try actually...if i f**k it up i suppose i could just take it to the bodyshop :D

I think if you gave it a good wash polish and wax, colour code it and get some black stuff on your tyres and go back to silver alloys it will look better. Not overly keen on the spoiler but it could be worse.

well you would notice a 40mm drop, but it proabbly just wont be enough to mak the wheels fill hte arches so youll want to go lower. im on coiloivers and its about 60-70mm drop and its sat perfect

I have to say I really dislike that spoiler. I just doesn't suit.

I don't like the wheel colour either, I'm not a fan of the whole blue car/black wheels thing, but I know it's quite popular so take my opinion on that with a pinch of salt.

DUB badge is w**k, too!

what if i went up to 16" alloys?

  MK3 GTI golf 16v
that would look better, 40mm drop would probably site pretty nice on 16s, jsut bare in mind alloys and tires are expensive for 16s

At first glance, that spoiler looks like peter crouch is sticking out of your boot. Each to our own, maybe once your lower it it'll tie it in more. Maybe. GO for it though pal, your car
