Clio bargain basement

  Mountune Tractor
Some seriously good deals to be had out there at the moment on 172/182.
Just seen a mint, low mile, 03 plate for under £4k!
Why does this always happen when I have NO money!

Yeah sorry - 172.
Even the 182's are getting cheap now though. Granted they are ageing.

I paid 2.5K for 172 Cup with decent history, no accident damage and in good useable nick. I stuck 6000 miles onto it with nothing in the way of servicing etc. before starting the super cup project.

As it stands now I've got a 0KM 200bhp+ spec engine to go in it with a zero KM box and shafts, fresh wheel bearings all round and some new shiny Billy Coilovers.

With that lot it should rack up another 72K miles with nothing but standard servicing and setup. Total cost is judge a smidge over £4K inc the car.

Okay I have stuck about £5K of labour into it but hey, I still reckon I got a bit of a bargain! ;-)

Cheers

You'll get the odd crazy deal but a decent 172 with history, not been smashed and had the belts done is going to be about £4k.

paid £3500 for mine 4 months ago with 55,000 miles, belts done and full renault service history.

rushed into that too.

Cam belt 72K or five years. Aux belt 36K or five years (some will say three years).

Aux belt must be done as a failure tends to go round the back of the crank pulley and push the timing belt off!

Full set on an aircon car is £500 or there abouts at a decent specialist with all tensioners etc. changed.

172 Cup with no aircon is about £300 as there is a lot less to do and the aux belt setup is much, much simpler (better!)

Cheers
