Clio big enough

  Barge like diesel Golf
I'm set on getting rid of my oh-so-boring-yet practical Golf Anniversary diesel and putting some excitement back into my driving life by getting a Clio Trophy. My worries are that I won't fit in it- I'm 15 stone and 6 foot 4 inches.
Before I go and book a test drive what I want to know is will I actually fit in one! I'm hoping the Recaros in the trophy are going to mean a better seating position than the 172 I tried years ago.
Another question, how practical is the car to live with on a day to day basis? I know it does decent MPG but would you entertain doing a 500 mile stint in one? This isn't something I do regularly but the car would need to have the ability.
I also believe that xenon's weren't an option on the Trophy, are the standard headlights any good?
Also what options were available on the Trophy other than sat nav (which I'd rather have TOM TOM than anyway)?
I've tried doing a forum search on these issues but can't find anything to fit my specific questions.
Finally do you have a good/bad dealer list on here, I'd like to know who to avoid!

Welcome to Cliosport mate :) These cars are more practical than you'd think. The suspension is firm but not at all crashy or hard, and the Recaros are comfortable and greatly improve the driving position.

you'll fit!

im 6ft 2in and 22 stone and fit in my 182 just fine! but theres NO leg room behind driver! so if you are carrying passengers behind you they will be uncomfortable to say the least.

as of the other questions I cant really help you with. but i'm sure the helpful guys on here will.

all the best in your choice.

I'm not planning on taking any passengers in the car, other than my girlfriend. I imagine any back seat passengers would probably end up feeling queesy after a bend or two anyway ;) . Good to hear I'll fit, I presume they are reasonably comfortable if you adjust the wheel.
Here's hoping I can get a deal as I've set my heart on the Trophy rather than a 'full fat' 182 with cup chassis.

Hi mate.. welcome to CS.

Just to let you know that i travelled from Edinburgh to Coventry via Newcastle which is just over 450 miles and at quite substancial speeds for long periods of time only stopping for "go faster juice" and my 182 performed perfectly. Have done many other reasonalby long "fast" journeys and safely say the 182 does it well. Only... after about 3.5 hours you start longing for a couch !!! lol

Had my trophys for 2 weeks now, recaros are great, not the most comfortable ride though but you get used to it. Fantastic car.
