clio cigarette lighter wires

ok i want to wire something into my cigarette lighter but im not sure which wires are which, like live/ground etc. any help would be apprecaited.

the colours are

blue
black(grey)/pink
yellow/red

I wired a snooper into mine this weekend, this was on a 2004 182 but it might help.

There are 3 wires and the middle one is the main 12v(+) power.(the thickest?)

The blue one should be for the illumiations from the lights and the other one(the black) will be the negative (or ground)

I did volt check mine first to make sure and i suggest you do the same but i do repeat this was on a 2004 182 model.

According to teh haynes manual the yellow wires goes up, through a realy, and then to teh ignition coil.

The black one goes through a shunt unit(what ever that is), to earth.

The blue wire goes to teh clock, and to the instrument panel, so guessing thats the light.

You never said what clio it was for, this is for the mk1 clio

Well since the wires are the same colour, it stands to reason that they do the same thing :S

You dont need to spend £30 on a multimeter if you dont want to... get a 12v bulb from somewhere... solder a couple of wires onto it... put one to an earth point on the chassis and one on the wire you want to identify... if it lights its positive... if it doesnt its an earth or the circuit isnt live... ie lights arent on if its an illumination circuit... its not fool proof in this sence but its cheap.

i wired up my invertor to my lighter ll check the colours and let u know i just tapped em all found the +ive one and guessed the neg ll let u know mine works perfect
