Clio Compaired to R32

  LY R27

Hi all,

My work mate has just picked up his new Golf R32, I have just had a spin in it (only 98 miles) but all I can say is its an excellent machine. He pulled on to our muddy site this morning I could hear the V6, 100-200 yard saway, he pulled up along side the cup and it made me feel glum :( .

Anyway I thought I would share the best points about the R32 , Heated Konig seats are to die for, wheels are 18" and look the b****cks, the disks and coloured calipers look mint, the flared arches are really cool and finally the steering wheel makes you feel invinsible.

I really want one of these cars only draw back is he is only getting 11mpg :D

Lovely gorgeous sexy beautiful sexweewee sounding engines man. Styling is nice too. but i wouldnt buy one now, especially when theyve announced the new one has the mk1 handling!! + i prefer the 147 GTA TBH.

1500 kgs and tyres @ >£200 per corner for decent rubber! The same as my current Mondeo except the Ford barge doesnt go half as well.

Hence my continued wait for a Cup...£70 per corner does it for me!

Mytyres have the R32 Pilot Sports for £145 per corner  what rubber are you looking at for £200. Only rubber Ive seen that expensive is the sort I buy for the missus ;)

Was quoted £848 for 4 Dunlops (225x40x18) by National Tyres...that was before I discovered the joys of internet tyre shopping.

I think Im gonna stick with Michelen Exaltos when the Cup finally gets here...was the best price seen for these anyone?

I have a next door neighbour who has a 2.8 4motion at the Mo - he refuses to believe my Cup is quicker.. i smugly think to myself what does he know!! I know for sure as a mate at the Golf Club has one & says its not as quick as his old 2.0 valver.. BUT when i was on my way in from work tother day my neighbour anounced he is taking delivery of his new R32 in October... pooh!

They have stopped making them now so his is one of the last off the line - fully loaded bit like the old Storm versions of the Golf/ Corrado VR6.. looking forward to having a nosey at it & a spin... (but iam the one with more go for less dough... He is having a concrete post put up to lock it on the drive. Someone tried to get the keys for his 4motion the other week by taking his kitchen window out.. None of that with the Cup, everyone thinks its a shopping trolley! BTW the mate of mine who had the 2.0 valver has it sat abandoned on his parents drive by that i mean he had it running sweet till he got a better job / company cars etc so just left it. Its not moved off his drive for over 3 years, covered in moss bird sh*te flat tyres ect... bit of a shame really ....

My might has just bought a R32 and Yes it does look the Bollox, especially in blue

Not sure how fast they Really are though??

Remember a couple of months back at York Dragsrip Me and Craggy stood and watched a silver R32 go down the 1/4 mile strip and was pretty shocked to see it only managed a 15.3!!!!!!

Craggys saxo is almost a second faster than that and his engine is exactly half the size! ;)

yer but come on, look at what youve got - as has been said the seats are awsome so are the wheels and calipers, you get the nice sound, and the nice screen in the dash - not sure if this is standard but its in my mates and its sweet.

They are georgous and definately my next car, my neighbour had one for a few weeks on test and got to try it against my 172, mid range pull was much better than the Clio and I am sure it would have have easily pulled away after 50 (we wernt looking to race), they even handle very well. They are the best petrol Golf in years, roll on the MKV version.
