Clio Confusion

hey there

Just boughtmy 1st clio ive only just passed my test recently.
I was confused though as its a 16v expression 52 plate. I thought it was a 1.2 however the engine cover says 1.0L what is it????
Where would I otherwise find this information.
Also what would you say is the best first styling mod for someone on a budget.

They didn't make a 1.0, put the reg up and I will look it up.
Technically the 1.2 is a 1.1 as its only 1149cc, i don't know if thats what confusing you.

Have a look in the vehicle enquiry section of - http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/index.jsp
this will give you the engine size, etc

Yea it was a 1.149 like u said and i was told so yea a 1.2. No it was just the fact that it says 1.0L on the engine cover.

Ha no probably not. its totally standard atm but im looking at getting some new alloys pretty soon and dropping it a bit. I saw a pic of someones on here looks pretty sweet for a lil un like mine. Any1 got any good ideas for me?

LOL, that second one is my old car! Im glad someone liked it! Still miss it, just so you know the only mods to that were the alloys, the clear repeaters, if I had kept it I would of lowered it. The alloys that were on it are actually for sale, see the for sale section or pm me.

They did do a 1.0 (999cc) but it wasnt a UK model..

there is a little thing half way down on the left hand side where you can enter the reg of a car and find out details about it.

that will clear it up for you

Yea I have found the details off the DVLA and like I thought along with other people on here its a 1.1499 ill put a pic of engine cover up later. Cheers guys. Will check out the alloys cheers. Wish id got a 3door now but it is so much more practical lol no clambering through seats.

They do make a D4D engine (1.0 16v) although i've never known it to be fitted to a Mk2 Clio. I'm not sure if there are any obvious differences between the two or if they're very similar like the 1.4/1.6 as afaik there the same at the D4F (1.2 16v) but a shorter stroke.

Could you get a decent pic of the whole bay? Might be able to tell from that, otherwise either RR or someone who knows what a 1.2 feels like to tell. May just have a different engine cover on.

It's just the word "oil" spelled incorrectly...

You've got a "Renault Clio 1.2 OIL", much better than a "Billabong" or "Exclusive".

In all seriousness, it just looks like someone's fitted the wrong cover as a replacement... The tabs on the back are prone to snapping off when changing plugs, etc, so it's probably been the closest / cheapest thing that'll fit...

Ok first of all thanks for all the responses on this old thread. ill take a better picture tomorow for you all. Does anyone know then if this is just a replacement part where I would buy the other cover or sticker, it does sound vein but its kind of annoying lol.

spoke to a mate who works with renault grease monkeys and he has told me its just the wrong engine cover.

Dont know where i can get a new one though.

its just where the covers broken so they just nicked one from another car possibly a twingo?? o and by the way tom when are you going to pass your drinving test???
