Clio Dci

  Monaco
In 6 months time i will be looking to change my 1.2 16v. It has never let me down but increasing number of long journeys i just need more power and less of the constant 3600 revs in 5th gear at 70.

So i want a dci 100, once purchaced; Lowered, sport front bumpers/wings/skirts, and stealth exhaust. Hopefully (financial situation allowing) i can keep my car after i've bought it for long enough to put my 182 interior in it.

But 100's seem rare as dodos. there is one 3 door on on ebay and 3 on autotrader in the entire country as far as i can make out. And i was kinda hoping for an unusual colour too.

Trivia quiz:

1. What is the physical differences between the 65/80/100 (i'e. could a cheeky remap on a 65 make a 100?)

2. Is a van easy to convert back to a 5 deater? (i quite fancy white)

3. Is a dci a good thing for what i want? (bear in mind i'm 19 and am not willing to break 600 sheets on insurance a year)

cheers!

get a dci 80 there just as quick you wont feel the difference or get a dti uk tuning box of ebay that will take you over 100bhp , as for the van bit they usually have high miles , tax is £190 a year ( normally £35 on a car ) , and they do convert back fairly easily there is a metal floor pan in the back you will have to remove and remove rear metal windows but there only bonded on
but if you find a decent one there good cars , mine will be for sale soon pm if your interested .

cheers! will the 80 be a decent upgrade from a 75bhp petrol?

your sale may be a bit soon for me but let me know anyway.

ahh good that's what i was hoping for.

How can you tell by looking at them how much horsepower they have? is there any physical differences?

  KW'd 2118'd dCi ???
Get an 80.

They're cheaper, not so rare as the 100 and with a remap you can get easily 100hp.

The main differences:
- Intercooler (more efficient in the 100)
- Rail pump
- Variable Geometry turbo
- Rear discs

Get a dci 80.

If I could find one near me with air con, I'd have it in a flash, good little cars. 65 is just too sluggish.

I like the dci 80s alot and am seriously considering getting 1. how difficult is it to convert to rear discs?

Im nt keen on upgrading the power without the stopping power

Sorry to revisit this but i'm back on the hunt again. Is a dci 80 really noticably faster? There are a few near me in budget. DCi 100's seem still to be impossible to locate.

cheers

I haven't driven a dci 80 only passanger but they seem a fair bit quicker than a 1.2 16v. I remember the 1st time my gf put her foot down full in 2nd coming off a roundabout I was shocked at how well it picked up. Ok it's not 172 speed or anything like it however i'd rather have a dci than any non rs petrol clio.

They have plenty of torque in 5th too, which makes for easy motorway overtaking etc. If you drop below 60 on a motorway in the 1.2 and need to overtake the thing that has slowed you down you need 4th, where as the dci would eat it up in 5th.

Also doing similar driving 55-60mpg in the dci compared to 36-42mpg in the 1.2

If you don't want a 1*2 then go dci imo.

cheers mate!

These experiences all 80's yeh? cos i'm about 80% convinced on the idea of a dci. it's just deciding 100 or 80

Have a look at RSTuning in Leeds, that claim they can get to 107 BHP, not bad from just a remap, gearbox and turbo should have no problems with it.

Have a look on cliodci.net as well.
