Clio diff casing / bell housing removal HELP

Car  Renault Clio Super 1600
Trying to get the diff from gearboxes, got both a 172 one and a JB3.

Taken all the bolts from the bell housing / casing, yet the bell housing wont come off. It will move a little way but only under force but no further.

Is this something to do with the gear selector. How would you remove this?

Any replys asap would be great.

Cheers

Havnt taken the dowels out, surly it should just slide off these? Clutch plate isnt on it no.

I can only assume its either a stiff dowel or a bolt thats not been undone ?? never had the problem before.

Tried it on both boxes and its the same. The casing will move off the dowels but then drops back on.

Does the selector have to be off?

have u taken the retaining plate off from inside the bell housing?

with that and all the bolts off it should pry apart.
