Clio extreme 2 1.2 16v wont start

  Renault clio 1.2 16v
I had an service light on my dash so i thought it was because oil kept getting into the air filter so i took the intake system off to see where it was coming from and there mustve been about an inch deep of old oil in there and its was all dirty so i thought id clean it up. After i cleaned it up even the throttle body which ik can be problematic if u clean it but i was as careful as i could be and not opening the valve with my fingers or anything for that matter.
Once it all was put back on, the wires all pluged in, i went to go start the car and it wont turn over, the power steering wont work and worryingly an air bag lights come on. The engine doesent seen to wanna do anything, the cars got a full tank of fuel, charged up battery, new coolent which it started fine after i did that.
In my ownership of the car (bought in december 2019) ive only done 166 miles as ive been tryna get it all fine before i do any distance in the car just incase it goes wrong however in those 166 miles its been running smooth and since i swapped the coolent and fixed the thermostat its able to hold a steady temp
If u need any pictures of whats happening then ill sort that out
If anyone can help many thanks

The wiring loom bracket that goes to the ECU on the inlet will have rubbed through, check the wiring there, clean up as needed and cover/shroud/tape any exposed wires. There's a metal bracket thing, just bin that off, it causes more hassle than it's worth!

As for the oil in the inlet, that's the breather on the back of the airbox to the head, it will be blocked up as it's a tiny passageway on the D4F

Seen these issues far too many times, I ended up re-taping a full engine loom on a 1.2 before looking for 1 broken wire 😂

So the breather is at the back of the engine, between the ecu and the air filter? Or on the left above the ignition coil

The ht leads seem to all have some brown dirt on it and the one is missing the rubber bung at the tip, pictured below. Is it worth cleaning them up and the bores or replacing them? also good to hear uve had expericance

I'd clean them up first mate

If you struggle then I have a 1.2 16v coilpack with HT leads going spare I think that you can have. As for the breather yes that's the one, you're best off taking the whole airbox/inlet assembly off and giving it a proper good clean out, sometimes the oil will get sloshed around that much and make it's way further down the inlet

Been a while since I've done one of these but I know enough to know they're fairly simple to sort out :)

I cleaned out as much of the intake as i could so hopefully thats enough and thanks for the offer but hopefully i wont need the replacement, ill go clean them up and get back to u

The breather doesnt seem to have anything in it and the ht leads r now clean but it still doesnt wanna start

If u can send pictures that would be a great help cause tbh not that experianced in getting cars started or what to look for other than the basics like is the battery connected and charged up, spark plugs in good health and is fuel getting into the engine, other than that idrk

Doesnt crank at all just the fuel pump or starter buzzes when u turn the key then nothing and only lets u turn the key once without having to turn the ignition completely off then turn it again and then nothing but a buzz happens again

Not sure if u can hear the buzz in the background

If you're in there take it out and see if there's a buildup of clutch material, cleaning it wont hurt anything

Although it should crank over even if the crank sensor ain't seeing the right signal

Have u got any ideas y it wont crank, i did have to remove a few cables to get access to the intake system properly so could it be a loose connection within one of those?

  Renault clio 1.2 16v
Ill have a look through the connections i took out, anything thats common with clios that could be y it dont crank?

Anything electric 😂

There's hundreds of things you could start trying tbh, your immobiliser light went out so it will be something that's not sending anything to the starter

I had to remove this bolt so i could remove the intake , it worth removing it and moving the cable about a bit

Should there be an oil of some sort on it?
I wouldve thought for a solid connection just needs bare metal to metal contact, right?

  Renault clio 1.2 16v
Ok cool
Ive just noticed some solder thats sitting on the bottom of the engine im thinking it mayve fallen off the white wire
