Clio Headlight Cases?

Hello there!

I've just bought my first car, its in reasonably good condition all around, however the front headlights are showing a little age.

I have a Mk2 Ph2 clio, the bit of triangular plastic outer casing on the front lights is going a little yellow and crazing a little! I was wondering if you could buy replacements of just this outer layer, and if so how much? I'm guessing there is no way to repair the crazing and de colouration?

I am in the process of wet sanding and polishes the headlights. It is a way of removing the yellow crazing affect

Wet sand then machine polish. It isn't rocket science, nor is it hard to do

Off topic I know, but when I was viewing the car today, I noticed a blue shiny film over the front window, in the centre of the front window at the bottom, the blue film had a small square cut out.. As the film seems to be within the glass.. and covers the whole window, my only guess is that its a front window heating element? Can anyone confirm that or is it something else?

Last two questions I promise you! ^^ as stated above, the blue shiny see through film that seemed to be within the glass of the front windscreen; is this a heating element to demist the window?

And secondly, the rear view mirror seemed to have a sensor on the rear that you could see through the wind screen... was is the sensor for?? My Clio is 2002 registration, and I thought the auto wipers and lights were for 2003+ Dynamiques?? So what is this sensor for?

my car is on a 52 mate and i have auto lights and wipers. turn ur key to key 2 and turn ur lights on and off twice it should beep.. easy indication

mines was the same when i bought it, just need to sand them down with wet & dry, use scratch remover then polish them, looks brand new

The film is a heat reflective covering. The bit cut out is where you put your satnav, as the UV resistant film blocks GPS signals.

had exactly the same with my 52 clio, headlights looked well beyond cosmetic repair with that orrible glazing, yellowy guff all over them. they ruined the front of the car. you don't even need any tools to achieve a really decent finish. all you need is wet and dry paper and autosol metal polish. I used 800 to begin with as mine were dreadful then used 1200. in between using this i used the autosol to see how well they were coming up and couldn't believe it. mucho elbow grease required and maybe the odd blister but well worth it. mine looks great now. become a bit paranoid about it and polish em all the time lol.
