Clio II - dCi100 and 1.6 16v comparison

  54 Clio Van w/Sports Kit
I just wondered if the Clio II dCi100 shared the same suspension and brake set-up as the Clio II 1.6 16v? I read that the 1.6 had stiffer suspension and possibly disc brakes all round compared to lower petrol models and wondered if the dCi100 shared similar upgrades compared to the dCi65 and dCi80 models?

Cheers

The Ph3 (>04) 1.6 and dCi100 will have rear discs yes, theres no real benefit just cosmetics really. Suspension wise i'm not sure if it was fitted with the "sports" steering and suspension that the 1.4 and 1.6 models get.

Otherwise the brake setup is the same setup found on all 16v Mk2s.

Hehe, now that I can understand. The fronts on my van get covered after a few drives, and the spokes on these Oz Racings are an absolute nightmare to clean.

So the rear discs in this line-up (excluding RS) don't make any difference to stopping distance? Thinking about it, I suppose the front does most of the work...

No one have any idea regarding the suspension?

Suspension well it mklaes no real difference you can say the 100 was deemed to have sports suspension and the 65 and 80 not but its untrue they 65 and 80 had harder suspension just like the 100 but that more down to market demand and the fact they have heavier weight to contend with so werer stuiffer.

I know from driving a 1.6 16v back to back with my 1.2 16v, the suspension and steering was miles better in the 1.6.

I was under the impression the 1.4, 1.6 and all DCI's had the uprated suspension and steering due to a heavier engine up fornt?

So the dCi100 has the same suspension set-up as my van?

I'm a bit disappointed if that's the case. Don't get me wrong, I think the handling is great as standard - it certainly inspires confidence when pushing it through the bends, but I was expecting something a bit tighter when there's around 50% more power.
