Clio keys

Hi we have a 1.2 Clio and both keys seem to have lost their programming to the imobilizer. ( tried new batteries but no luck) Is this common & who supplies re-programmes keys as Renault way £170 each!!

Resync a key. I can’t remember the exact method but it’ll be mentioned on here numerous times.

A quick look revealed this:
1. Turn Ignition OFF.
2. Press the central door locking button for more than 5 seconds. Note :
the door should lock then unlock.
3. When this happens, 10 seconds is allowed and the immobiliser warning
light illuminates.
4. Press the remote control once, the doors should lock and unlock.
5. Repeat for second remote if required.
6. Check the remote control unlocks and locks the doors.

I’m not sure if that’s just for the central locking however as I’m sure the immobilise syncing requires the key to be in position two and then you unlock the car on the fob, or something similar.

Did both keys stop working at the same time?

Could the immobiliser ring that is around the ignition barrel have failed?
