Clio Mk1 PH1 Side lights

Both my front side lights have died at the same time, I have tested the fuses, all are okay. I have bought new bulbs and when i have come to change them (following manual instructions) i just cant seem to remove either of the bulb holders. Any one help me?

I do it as follows:

• Remove black 'caps' on the back of the lights, taking care not to damage the squeezy tab bits on each side.
• Get hold of sidelight bulb holder between my fingers
• Twist it round gently>firmly depending on how stiff they are. Mine are pretty stiff to turn!
• Once it's loose, pull the holder and bulb out from the headlight unit
• change the bulb
• reverse the process
