Hi, the missus has the above car on a 99 plate which has got some running problems, sometimes it start fine and runs fine with no problems, other times while driving it will start running rough almost like its running on 3 cylinders.
Other times it will start rough, nearly cutting out on idle and run really rough with hardly any power, struggling to get up steep hills, then all of a sudden the power kicks in and it sorts itself out.
Its like a hit and miss sort of thing, sometimes it starts fine but then on your journey for no apparent reason it looses lots of power and runs really rough almost stalling at roundabouts etc, other times it starts rough and then sorts itself out while driving and regains all power and driveability.
There are no lights on the dash, but when it starts to run rough there is a very strong smell of petrol from the exhaust. I have changed the plugs with no avail.
I am thinking it could be a lambda sensor on the exhaust, coil pack or another faulty sensor somewhere??
Has anyone got any ideas, any help would be great.
